Synopsis
I've been involved in professional web applications development for my entire career spanning eleven years and have acquired a wide range of applicable skills covering all stages of the production process of dynamic web sites and their products.
While I've held both web marketing as well as web development roles in both executive as well as supervisory capacity, programming applications and use of other technical skills has always featured prominently. I am therefore in the advantageous position to work along-side as well as supervise employees while having a solid understanding of their challenges and requirements.
Having grown up in Austria I’ve gained international work experience while demonstrating loyalty during my five years working for the same corporation in Louisiana, Arizona and Northern England and I am currently employed by a Design and Development Agency in the greater London area. I’m a self-driven individual with a strong focus on delivering results at qualitative high standards. I possess many strengths in different areas with strong web development and analytical skills as well as management experience and the ability to orchestrate web technologies, marketing, analytics, database and product management resources to maximum effect.

I joined Fourleaf in February 2008 and during my tenure I was involved in many, often wildly differing web development projects ranging from developing intranet applications for a large global enterprise down to small business websites. In a variety of fields from web development and programming, database programming and design, data in/export, project management, system architecture design furthermore including web hosting, security and backup systems. I spent this period of my life working freelance as a web developer, a personal instructor of good web development and web design practices and a home remodeler in my former family home in Sheffield which had been damaged during the Summer 2007 extreme weather conditions. |

I originally joined VSE to evaluate their web presence and e-marketing strategy and to make recommendations for the way forward. I delivered a unifying vision of various tools and applications working together based around a central, custom-developed database and started to implement that vision by developing a sales-tracking and price-forecasting intranet application. After delivery of said tool based on PHP4 and an MSSQL database and such gaining momentum within the organisation, I was given the go-ahead to implement the central database, contact management, email broadcasting facilities and then a customer relationship website. I hired several web programmers and together we developed a wide range of applications and tools utilizing Apache 2, PHP5, asynchronous JavaScript (aka AJAX, Web 2.0) which all played together to form one custom-tailored integrated system. |

I joined Insight in 2001 as webmaster for the Insight Germany web presence which was hosted and maintained from the English Headquarters. After Insight decided to cease trading in Germany in winter 2001, I took on e-marketing development responsibilities for the English websites and eventually took on the role of E-Marketing Manager, reporting into the Marketing Director and managing the E-Marketing department, managing several reports, their day-to-day operations and the development of various user-driven or automated web-based tools. Said tools were based upon a PHP4, Apache, MySQL 4 as well as Oracle 10i architecture. |

Insight relocated TC Computers operations from New Orleans, Louisiana to Tempe, Arizona. After a few months, I became webmaster and web team leader running day-to-day operations of the www.tccomputers.com website and leading a small team of developers. At the time, this presence averaged around 10,000 unique visitors a day but is now fully integrated into the Insight US web presence. We primarily maintained static content, but also wrote extensions to 3rd party PHP4-based web applications. |

Professional Experience
Web Technologies / Web Development Management
- I have designed and developed various database-driven websites. Including overall concept, design and implementation and subsequent performance tracking as well as database maintenance.
- I am well experienced in taking a provided design and content and building a dynamic website which later can be maintained by non-technical personnel. This includes the site architecture, database design and implementation, application flow and conceptualisation, application programming including an admin interface, testing and post-launch support.
- I have designed and overseen development of a complex and integrated e-marketing, contact management and web content management system, custom-designed and -developed according to business needs.
- I have programmed many web applications to be used on customer-facing websites including an E-mail subscription self-service, graphical E-mail production and bulk broadcast system, PC system configurator, database-driven product or category pages, dynamic questionnaires, customer satisfaction surveys, online prize or sweepstakes applications (incl. abuse prevention), site navigation and search applications.
- Programmed various intranet applications to be used internally including dynamic, database-driven reporting of benchmarks and KPIs; Phone directory, sweepstake and auction sites, department pages, employee and customer service/satisfaction surveys; business flow and product pricing coordination and forecasting.
- My development platform of choice for above web applications was typically based upon PHP and MySQL, running on an Apache2 web server operating on a Debian Linux server platform.
- I have experience in hardening web applications to minimise the vulnerability to hackers, particularly SQL-insertion attacks, cross-side-scripting attacks and root kits.
Marketing Management
- Conceptualised and implemented various external marketing campaigns. Tasks included: Competitive rate negotiation, performance estimates and guidance to the business, technical implementation, tracking of KPIs, reporting and accountability of campaign.
- Designed and implemented automatic Campaign Tracking Tools providing comprehensive detail for key metrics and performance indicators.
- Evaluated campaign proposals for their merits and made recommendations and implemented and oversaw subsequent campaigns, applying industry-standard KPIs and reporting on ROI.
- I have created thousands of static product presentation web pages which has involved summarising product attributes, highlighting USPs and writing copy to motivate a purchase. I’ve also produced/created many other types of static or dynamic web pages.
- I have designed and implemented several site-wide designs and redesigns for the websites (and micro sites) of TC Computers, Action, Insight Germany, Insight UK, ViewSonic Europe.
- I have produced several hundreds of bulk email vehicles with subsequent exposure to hundreds of thousands of recipients.
- I have created several hundreds of front pages for the TC, Action, Insight UK and Germany websites.
- Tasks included in above mentioned were among others: Writing and proofing copy, image manipulation for product images, adhering to production guidelines, quality assurance and supervising implementation.
- I’ve been closely involved in the merchandising and product selection processes to determine on a weekly basis the products or services to be featured on front pages or email vehicles.
- Worked with members of the PM team, providing web sales performance guidance for types of products.

- Conceptualised the vision of an integrated E-Marketing system and consequently hired, built and managed a team of web developers implementing said system based upon PHP5/MySQL/Apache/Linux.
- Proactively took on more roles and responsibilities in the e-marketing area leading to my promotion to E-Marketing Manager.
- Hired several E-Marketing specialists utilising careers pages on the website, agencies as well the various job network websites out there (e.g. monster.com), interviewing applicants, applying standardised tests.
